The Cairngorms National Park has a unique blend of landscape, habitat, wildlife and people. The park is home to some 17,000 people and covers an area of 3800 square kilometers, making it the largest National Park in the UK.
There are 52 mountain tops over 900 meters, and 4 of Scotland’s 5 highest mountains are in the park. The “Arctic Wilderness”, that is land over 600m above sea level, is the largest Mountain Zone in the British Isles. A total of 10% of the entire park area is above 800 meters.
