PLAYER RECRUITMENT
Strathspey Camanachd is a newly formed shinty team set-up by players from the parishes of Strathspey. We are entering the North Development League this year then hoping to enter North 3 the following year. We are looking for new players all the time and all levels of experience are welcome.
If you are keen to represent your area in the ancestral game of shinty get in touch through our facebook page (search Strathspey Camanachd), or e-mail [email protected] to find out about training time and location. Many of our players started off as beginners back in December so don’t feel your inexperience or lack of knowledge of the game is an issue,
we will train you.
Hope to hear from you!

Weather chiefs warn worse is on the way
THE early arrival of heavy snow which has caused chaos on the roads and a spate of school closures in the strath could be just the tip of the iceberg this winter, weather experts have warned.
Aviemore recorded the lowest maximum temperature in the UK on Monday peaking at just a chilly -3.9C.

MP in national spotlight
LOCAL MP Danny Alexander is a “weel kent” face around his Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey constituency, but perhaps he was not so well known on the national stage.
Until last week, that is, when he found himself in the full glare of both the national and international spotlights as one of the top team of Lib Dem politicians vying with the Tory and Labour hierarchy to try and strike a deal for a coalition Government partnership.

Grantownonspey.com and VisitGrantown.com
VisitGrantown is excited to announce the inclusion of the Grantown Community website of Grantownonspey.com. The tie up was finalised on the 27th March 2010, and will no doubt prove to be a winner for business, community and the tourist trade.
There is now a one stop shop at www.VisitGrantown.com for the needs of all groups. The new website is maintained from within the town, and as such is always up to date and relevant. Local businesses are encouraged to enter their details within the content. There is now a small charge to do so, but over 30% of the basic listing fee is being returned to the community.
Grantownonspey.com, was until recently, managed through the Grantown on Spey Initiative. The initiative was unable to fund the management of the site, and this is a new way of organising a community / business portal that offers a financial benefit to the community.
The site is now open to interested parties to add their own dynamic content, to community groups to inform and market their own activities, and the business sector.
Rails to Grantown
Today was the Rails to Grantown Project, where regional and national Press & TV took the opportunity to cover the launch of the “Rails to Grantown” appeal at Broomhill Station, near Dulnain Bridge. Invitations were extended to local and national politicians as well as leaders of the many organisations giving support to the project.
A steam locomotive pulling the Officer’s Saloon heralded the launch of the appeal event at 12 noon, where it passed through large publicity banners, breaking a tape to launch our efforts to raise at least £182,000 in the current year.
Later guests took a trip down some of the new track already laid towards Grantown, the first time passengers had been carried on this stretch of track for over 30 years.
